Shinkopa is a project that installs “wood‐scrap take-home only” bins in front of lumberyards in Shin-Kiba, offering visitors an experience of freely collecting offcuts as they tour the yards. Each bin is stocked with a dedicated bag and an area map, so participants can wander Shin-Kiba with a map in hand, gathering their favorite scraps while experiencing the town and its lumber industry firsthand. By reframing offcuts not as “waste” but as “local recyclable resources,” Shinkopa highlights and shares the unique charm of Shin-Kiba.
